All of us love keeping our Android phones safe and secure. There are, however, a number of security parameters already available on our smartphones including PIN lock, pattern lock, password, and face recognition which help us keep our beloved phones secure.
But these options don’t seem to be fulfilling all the user requirements, hence, a new lock pattern has been introduced in the recent past that is fingerprint!
Fingerprints are the most secure way of protecting our phones from going into the wrong hands. Just touch your finger and get access to your android phone. And we all very well know every person has unique fingerprints. No person on earth can have the same fingerprints as the other. Thus, fingerprints are the most secure way of locking a phone and preventing it from going into the wrong hands.
Since fingerprint lock is a new feature of android, not many people know how to Use Fingerprint Lock on android.
If you have got a recent model of androids like Samsung Galaxy S5, Note 4, red mi note 3, Nexus 5X, or something similar, you can easily enjoy this one of the latest features of smartphones.
But if you don’t know the way of setting up a fingerprint scanner on your latest smart device, no need to get tensed. We will walk you through the step-by-step guide on how to set up fingerprint scanners in android, just read along!
How To Use Fingerprint Lock On Android:
As I said, fingerprint lock is not available in older android devices. If yours is the latest Android model, then only you can set up fingerprints lock on Android. However, there are a number of apps that offer a fingerprint lock feature but it is not official. We are not going to discuss such apps here.
We are not going to discuss such apps here. In fact, We won’t be telling you any unofficial way of setting up a fingerprint lock. Our guide is relevant for only those who want to set up a fingerprint lock on their Samsung Galaxy S5, note 4, or any latest Android model.
We have compiled our guide specifically for S5 and Nexus 5X users. But the method is almost the same for almost all the supported Android.
So let’s check out how to set up fingerprint locks on the latest models of android.
#Samsung Galaxy S5:
Step 1. Go to the Settings menu on your Galaxy S5 and tap it. You will see a list of options there but you need to go to the fingerprint manager. To reach out to that option, you need to go to the finger scanner. It’s a blue-colored finger-like icon, just tap it and enter into it.
If you find difficulty in locating the option, just look at the below image.
On the finger scanner page, under settings, you will find Fingerprint Manager. Just tap this option to register your fingerprint.
Step 2. While taping the fingerprint manager, you’ll see a disclaimer read it and tap Ok.
Step 3. You will be now redirected to a tutorial section where you will be told how you need to register your fingerprint. Just repeat the process 8 times and you’ll see the progress bar showing the number of times you have swiped your finger.
Once you are done doing it, your fingerprint will be saved on your galaxy S5, and you will see the following screen.
Step 4. Now you need to set fingerprint as an unlock password for your phone. Just tap Ok and go to the select lock screen and select fingerprint as your lock option.
Now lock your screen and unlock it with your fingers to check out how this process works. Now let’s find out how to set up a fingerprint lock in Nexus 5X.
# Google Nexus 5X:
To set up finger lock in Google Nexus 5X, Go to Settings on your phone, scroll down and select Security. On the Security page, go to Nexus Imprint. A screenshot for the same is given below.
On clicking Nexus imprint, you will encounter a disclaimer. Click Continue to continue the process. In the next screen, you need to enter a password for the backup purpose. You can choose any password of your choice from the below options.
Once you are done selecting the backup lock screen, you will be asked if you want to secure your screen with a start-up lock or not.
The option provides extra security to your phone. It’s kind of a second lock. If you set up a start-up password, you will require entering the startup password after verifying your finger every time you try to unlock the phone. Without putting the startup password, you can not receive calls, messages, notifications, and even alarms.
If you wish to put that level of security on your phone, tap requires a PIN to start the device or simply tap No Thanks.
Once you are done with all those security steps, it’s time to Find the Sensor. This is the most important step where you need to register your fingerprint. To locate the sensor, you need to put your finger on the backside of your phone.
Once you touch the sensor, you will be driven to the next step. In this step, you will need to put your finger on the sensor and put another with the vibration. Now keep following the on-screen instructions to register your fingerprint to your phone.
When your fingerprint addition with your phone is successfully completed, you will see the following screen.
You can add another finger if you wish to, by taping the ADD ANOTHER button at the bottom or simply tap done. You can add up to 5 fingerprints with google nexus 5X.
